I’m proud to be chairing the all-new City Partnership, which is made up of key partner organisations from across the public, private and voluntary sectors in Leicester. We had our first inaugural meeting on 18th April 2012.
Our role
The City Partnership Board will support me in driving forward the vision for the future of our city. They will help me to make sure that we are listening to and consulting with those who live, work and visit our city.
Together we will act as a collective and strong voice for Leicester raising the city’s profile and influence regionally and nationally. We will to continue to look at how we can best use our collective resources and work together to improve outcomes for the people of Leicester.
We will focus on many important aspects of life in our city including:
• Jobs
• Transport
• Community safety
• Leisure and culture
• Environment
• Education and opportunities for young people
• Healthy and active communities.
Why the Board was created?
The City Partnership Board has been created in response to a review, which took place in 2011 where there was a strong and over whelming consensus about the need to amend the structure of our previous partnership arrangements to make them fit for purpose, more effective and to eliminate duplication and waste.
As a result of that review, the City Partnership Board replaced the One Leicester Partnership Assembly and Executive. It's designed to have a broader based representation, be less bureaucratic and formal in the way it operates, and focus on the key issues which are important to Leicester citizens.
Who we are
The members of the City Partnership Board come from Leicester’s public, private and voluntary sectors. Further details can be found on our membership page.
Our partnership arrangements in the city also include ten strategic theme groups which support the City Partnership Board and focus in greater detail on important priorities for the people of Leicester. Further details can be found on our strategic theme groups page.
Our meetings
Our last meeting was on Friday 26th April, when we discussed the census results and what they might mean.
We’ll be meeting again on on Tuesday 2nd July.
